GDD Science Awards for Young Academics 2025
The Science Awards of the Society for Data Protection and Data Security (GDD) were presented at the 49th Data Protection Conference (DAFTA).
Every year, the GDD's Scientific Advisory Board, chaired by Prof. Dr. Tobias Keber, awards the GDD Science Prize in recognition of outstanding scientific work. The prize is endowed with EUR 5,000 and goes to young scientists from all disciplines who deal with issues of data protection and data security. The award is intended to help bridge the gaps between the social, legal, and technical frameworks of data protection and data security. Due to their high scientific excellence, three papers were selected from a large number of submissions and honored with this year's GDD Science Award.
Science Awards for Young Academics 2025
The current award winners
are Timur Jakob Cinar for his law dissertation “Private Data Protection Law in Light of Fundamental Rights – An Investigation Using the Example of Motor Vehicle Data Processing” and Dr.-Ing. Saskia Nuñez von Voigt with her IT dissertation "Differential Privacy Unlocked: Exploring Potentials Along the Data Pipeline."
M.Sc. Titus Vollbracht received the sponsorship award for his master's thesis “Security of Self-Modifying PDFs.”
The award winners received their certificates in person and “virtually” at the DAFTA evening on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
