GDD takes over CEDPO presidency

CEDPO presidency

The GDD will assume the CEDPO presidency (Confederation of European Data Protection Organisations) for the year 2022.

CEDPO was founded in September 2011 jointly by several national European data protection organisations as a common umbrella organisation at European level. CEDPO aims to establish contacts with European institutions and to promote the role of the company data protection officer as well as the harmonisation of data protection regulations within the European Economic Area (EEA) or the European Union. Like the GDD, CEDPO advocates reasonable, practicable, balanced and effective data protection.

In addition to the GDD, the current member organisations of CEDPO are:

  • The Association of Data Protection Officers (ADPO), Irland
  • Association Française des Correspondants à la Protection des Données à Caractère Personnel (AFCDP) (fr), Frankreich
  • ARGE Daten, Österreich
  • Associação de Encarregados de Proteção de Dados (AEPD), Portugal

About CEDPO

CEDPO is currently still an association without an explicit legal form. However, there are plans to convert the organizations into an association under Belgian law with its headquarters in Brussels. On behalf of the GDD office, CEDPO is managed by Steffen Weiß, member of the GDD management board for international affairs.
